We were still pretty full from breakfast but that doesn’t stop us from trying out one of the hottest dining spots in L.A! From what we’ve read, this place gets pretty busy for dinner and reservations are recommended however for lunch they only do walk-ins.. so we tried our luck.
We got there around 1:30PM and only had to wait a few minutes for them to clear a section of the communal table for us. As we waited for our food to arrive, we admired the rustic, mostly wooden features of this space.
They are known for their pizzas so we broke our ‘save-our-first-taste-of-american-pizza-for-new-york’ rule. We went with something light – Mixed mushroom, rosemary and garlic oil. This is a cheese-less pizza, but they served up grated cheese, chilli flakes and herbs for you to scatter onto the pizza, as you wish. Although a rather simple pizza it was still pretty good, I love a good thin crust pizza! Oh and, the pizza slices weren’t the size of our faces… so technically can’t compare these to the New York pizzas!
We ordered a refreshing plate of greens to go with it – Smoked trout, avocado, grapefruit, red onion & lemon.
A quick food stop but definitely one we would revisit in the future – the other pizzas and dishes on their menus are all so interesting!
Exploring Abbot Kinney
Abbot Kinney Boulevard, is a vibrant strip of shops, restaurants, cafes.. all with its own quirky aesthetics to match the beachside vibe of Venice Beach – exactly what I imagined this side of L.A to be like. It is a long stretch, and we’re not even sure we reached the end! Definitely one of the places I enjoyed most from our L.A stop.
Shout outs to our friends Irene & Dan! – we found these coincidentally next to each other π
Just one of many shops that sell somewhat random stuff, how many scoops of shells would you like?
N’ice Cream
Considering how cold it was – we surprisingly ate a fair amount of ice cream during our trip. Mostly because it gets so warm indoors so you’d crave for something to cool you down. So we stopped by N’ice Cream.
Not the place to go to if you like crazy weird flavours but there were some nice ones there along with a few classics.
Not usually the type to order Mint Choc Chip but it was the refreshing dessert I needed.
This Barbie christmas tree is funny and creepy at the same time… way to reuse old toys?
