Most libraries are straight to the point, boring and remind you of all the times you did last minute cramming before exams. Then you have some libraries that are awesome enough to score a line on your travel bucketlist. For me, that library was New York Public Library. Seen this library a couple of times… in Hollywood movies (e.g. the first Sex and The City movie!) which explains why I was so eager to see it in person! I’m sure Tourists aren’t even here for the books but mostly to admire the architecture of the building inside and out. Speaking of which, I’m not even sure if I saw a bookshelf when I was there! This Library is HUGE, I’m sure we didn’t wander around to every corner of it. We did however got to see the Public Eye Photo exhibition on at the time which shows how people have documented and shared images in the last 175 years. Back in the day when its all in print and these days… #hashtageverything
I was a little disappointed to find that one of the main attractions of the library, The Rose Main Reading Room was under restorations. If you did a quick google search you’d immediately recognise this room. Guess we’ll have to pop in again on our next trip!
