Woke up nice and early and overjoyed that jet lag didn’t affect our body clock too much… we set out on our first and only full day in L.A! Starting the day with a good breakfast is a must, so we had our fingers crossed that we did pick the perfect place for that.
It was hard getting used to driving on the other side of the road, but we eventually got used to it (only with one ‘oopsie!’ moment). We chose to drive around town hoping that it’ll be a lot easier and that we’ll get to see more places in a day – and risk the chance of not finding parking. We were pretty lucky I have to say!
I read reviews about how amazing the ‘sluts’ are at Grand Central Market… and had to try it!
Grand Central Market houses a good variety of food stalls of different cuisines; e.g. from Chinese to German.
This, my friends… is the best places to get sl*ts… steamy, hot… in a jar … for breakfast ;P ! Yep, its food and I’m here salivating just thinking of it!
Right at the entrance of Grand Central Market, nice and early so still reasonably quiet!
Guys queueing up for “sl*ts” 😛
We each got a ‘sandwich’, (which is actually a burger/brioche bun… Americans seem to call anything between 2 slices of ‘bread’ a sandwich) Alfred had the (turkey) sausage egg and cheese, and I the bacon egg and cheese. The egg does get a little ‘oozy’ and can’t not love it paired up with melty cheddar cheese.. yes even for breakfast 😛
Now for the sl*t – is actually a coddled egg poached on top of potato puree in a jar, may be an odd combo but its so simple too that it works! I regret ordering one to share (our tactic to combat American food serving sizes) because it was sooooo gooood – I’m salivating just thinking of it!
Doesn’t look like much but it was just enough – not bad for a US$25 ~ breakfast
killed it!
We didn’t explore too far off from Grand Central Market so couldn’t grasp what downtown l.a would be like but we were certainly amazed by the architecture of buildings there!
More posts about other locations we visited on this day to come.. soon 🙂 !
