First stop of our one day tour is to watch the Barong & Keris dance, a cultural performance about the battle between Good & Evil. The performance itself went for under an hour and is performed in Indonesian – not to worry about the language barrier though as they provide you with a scene-by-scene guide of whats happening in your preferred language. The costumes were quite intricate and some I found scary e.g. the tiger (below).
I personally like the instrumentals, which were somewhat a distinct sound of Bali. It could get pretty upbeat during the ‘fighting’ scenes, thats when it really gets your heart pumping! Overall, it was mostly entertaining especially when they engage with guests and the silly jokes that are bound to make you laugh. Is it something that would normally interest me? Not really, but was worth checking it out at least once since we were in Bali!
The typical tourist/souvenir shot that gets printed onto plates for you to consider buying after the show. We didn’t get sucked in this time!
