Asking friends who have traveled to Bali before for their suggestion of which area to stay in, Seminyak is always the first one mentioned. It is no doubt touristy but it is a safer option (less dodgy clubs and bars). Location decided, now to decide on hotels which was an even tougher choice because there were A LOT to chose from at fairly reasonable prices.
I loved the modern architecture of Ize Seminyak and their location was fairly central to most of the cafes and places we wanted to visit by foot. Driving into this busy strip of Seminyak, you’d easily spot the building. It is situated next to a restaurant and a run down building (which didn’t seem to be a construction site.. so wasn’t a problem for our stay)
We didn’t get to try their cafe because we ate out most of the time.
Cool roof/wall in the lobby.
“Do not order drinks with ice cubes, only drink bottled drinks” they say, to avoid us from getting sick consuming local water. But when the hotel staff hands you a glass of minty lemonade on arrival (and it was a hot day!) you simply can’t resist. We were okay!
We stayed in the Deluxe Room, a modern and spacious room with ample natural light – easily 3 times the size of the hotel we stayed at the night before in Singapore. We paid less for this, at around $110/night. (Booked it when HotelClub had its 15% off hotels special)
I really loved chilling on the lounge behind me, I need one in my bedroom! On another note – there is a TV hidden behind this sliding mirror on the wall.
Complimentary water so you won’t have to use tap water to brush your teeth. They replaced this daily.
Very well equipped with amenities, first time seeing hotels provide a scent diffuser!
The boy’s dad told us about this “snake skinned” fruit which you can only get in Bali and we should get some from the markets to try. They had it in our hotel room! The snake skin is definitely odd (look of it scares me). Sad to say we weren’t too fond of the taste/smell – we only took one bite. Perhaps we should’ve tried more to give it another chance and see why people love it so much.
On the last day, we discovered they had an “infinity pool” upstairs form our room along with a bar area.
Almost every morning during our Bali trip, I woke up when the sun rose – our hotel room faced east so was a perfect view from bed 🙂
We loved our 2 night stay at Ize! As the hotel was on a busy street, we didn’t hear too much noise since our room was further back. More importantly, bed was comfortable and very plush pillows is a plus!
