Last blogpost was 10days ago! eeek! I’ve been burying myself under piles of editing (just so I can have a clean slate before I leave for my trip!) and totally lost track of time! Lets hope to get back to this weekly blogpost thing.
I’ve been meaning to blog about my sister’s birthday party for sometime now but haven’t gotten around to picking out the photos until now.
Firstly, my 3rd youngest sister, Courtney turned 17. SEVENTEEN! I feel old just thinking about it… it didn’t feel that long ago when I was 17 myself… *7 years ago*. My sister never had a birthday party with her friends, so sister #2, Chloe and I for the past few weeks leading up to her birthday have been nudging her, you should really have a birthday party since it could be the last year you get to celebrate with your friends as they are in their final year of highschool.
She gave us about a week or so notice that she will go ahead with the party, so long as we do the planning and the prepping. Chloe and I gave her the thumbs up. Since this is her first birthday party, we wanted to make it a good one! A week prior to the date, an idea of a themed birthday party sparked. As sisters, we love playing anything Super Mario, and since that is what she plans to do at her party (play Wii)… we though, SUPER MARIO THEMED birthday party! We anxiously waited for her to come home from school that Monday afternoon and did a proposal *shows off secret pinterest board* and she said OK! It didn’t take much convincing luckily. Chloe and I began sketching. We spent a day or two running around gathering party supplies which fit the Super Mario colours (red, yellow green, polka dots) and will not throw the party WITHOUT getting those golden star-shaped foil balloons!
We wanted to keep some components a surprise, but it was difficult as we live under the same roof… at least she slowly saw bits of it unfold each day.. which is equally exciting.
Seeing all come together was a relief! It was just as how we imagined it! It was the cherry on top when we heard her friends say, “This is so instagram worthy!”. Wouldn’t have been such an amazing turnout if it wasn’t for Chloe’s photoshopping/graphic design skills! She designed all the graphics you see here 🙂 It was so much fun putting together all the little details, and admit I miss party planning already! So when can we plan the next party?
Enough of my blabbing, I shall let the photos speak for themselves!
I spent the day before cooking up a storm in the kitchen, making bite sized things for the teens to enjoy while gaming away. Mini beef sliders, and “Pigs in a blanket” (sausage pastry rolls) just to name a few.

The photo backdrop. Super Courtney has 17 lives. The points “03031997” is her birth date. She wasn’t born at 4:31 though.
